Rath Yatra is also
known as the Festival of Chariot which is celebrated every year at Puri. One of
the famous temple towns in Orissa.The main
attracted place of this festival is the Jagannath Temple, which is one of the
four dhams of the Hindus. Rath Yatra Puri is immensely popular amongst devotees
and thousands of them visit Puri every year with full eagerness.
This enormous
procession is accompanied by the chariots where they play devotional songs with
trumpets, drums, tambourines, etc. Children stand along the line streets
through which the chariot passes and contribute to the mass chorus line.

festival is such that people believe that even a touch of the chariot or the

be extremely auspicious, and poets, saints, and scriptures have continuously
eulogized the sanctity of this special festival. In fact, there is a renowned
Oriya song, which says that on this occasion, the wheels, the chariot, the
grand avenue all become a part of Lord Jagannath himself.
